Time for Yoga

Q: What is yoga?

A: Yoga means union. The union of mind and body; of body and breath; the physical and the spiritual. It is a physical practice of asana or poses / postures. These asana may help increaase flexibilty, gain strength and stamina and may also improve your mood and bring balance to your body's systems.

Q: What do I wear to a yoga class?

A: Comfortable clothing that allows your fullest range of motion. Nothing to baggy to get in your way. Nothing to tight to restrain your movements. We practice bare foot.

Q: Why go barefoot?

A: Let your feet breathe! We will use our feet to balance and need to grip with our toes.

Q: What equipment do I need?

A: A sticky mat is the basic equipment. Props such as blocks, straps and blankets are additionally used and often supplied by the studio or teacher. The props help to move into an asana with more ease.

Kairos is an acient Greek word meaning the "right or opportune moment." Wikipedia states that the ancient Greeks had two words for time, chronos and kairos. While chronos refers to chronological or sequential time,

Kairos signifies "a time in between", a moment of undetermined period of time in which "something" special happens.

What the special something is depends on who is using the word.

While chronos is quantitative,

Kairos has a qualitative nature.
